ATTENTION.....
The Credit Union has recently started getting “E Checks” from some of our members' creditors. Most of these checks are coming from Online Loan Creditors. THESE CHECKS ARE NOT AUTHORIZED BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE CHECKING ACCOUNTS.
If you are asked by a creditor for checking account information you need to tell them that you do not have a checking account. If they want to pull from your debit card you will need to give them that number or if you want them to pull from your savings account you need to call the credit union for those numbers. It is important to tell them that is a savings account.
If they try to debit your savings account and you do not have the funds in your account the charge will be returned as insufficient and you will be charged a fee of $20.00.
We are writing letters to our members and the loan companies in order to stop these “E Checks” from being processed. This procedure takes our Accountant an hour to process and return each check to the Federal Reserve.

If you would like to receive your monthly statement through home banking please send us an e-mail and we will set you up. We have been testing it for the last 2 months and it is working well so we are ready to offer it to you. Please e-mail us at the following address and we will get you set up.

MOTOR VEHICLE SERVICE IS UP AND RUNNING……
We now have the motor vehicle service running and so far the reception has been good. Melissia is experienced in all phases of vehicle titling and transaction requirements and is prepared to answer your questions and process your paperwork.
Transactions processed through the Credit Union will cost you an additional $10.00 to $15.00 depending on the transaction processed. The good part is you will not have to wait in line for a long period of time to get your business taken care of. Melissia is in the office from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and she takes lunch from 12:00 to 1:00.
REGULAR SHARE BALANCE REQUIREMENT CHANGED…..
Effective December 1 st your regular share(type 01) will be require a balance of $25.00. This balance can not be pulled from unless you wish to close your account. We have eliminated the $100.00 balance because 90% of our phone calls were requests to transfer funds below the minimum. This new requirement will allow transactions to be made through ART and Homebanking without calling. We hope this will make your life easier. Our employees have been instructed to not pull funds below $25.00 so please do not ask! Your balance will be brought up to minimum through your deposits.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT EMAIL SCAMS!
Rio Grande Credit Union reports that some of their members received a phishing e-mail. Phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity — such as a credit union — in an e-mail.
The scam e-mail purports to be from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and asks 'FCU holder account' to click into a link and fill in a form. The scam e-mail says the action is designed to protect the recipient's account and threatens that if the recipient doesn't comply, account access will be limited or denied.
The fraudulent e-mail was not sent by the NCUA or any credit union or other financial institution. No reputable financial institution, such as a credit union, will ask for personal information — account number, usernames, passwords or Social Security number — in an unsolicited e-mail.

We have been growing steadily over the last few years and many of you use all our services and loan products. We hope you believe in your Credit Union enough to refer a co-worker, so we have implemented a referral award of $5.00 for every new member that you refer and who joins the credit union. We have referral cards that you can pick up at the credit union or on the website. See the reverse side for cards that can be used as well.
Write in your name as the existing member (legible please, in order to pay you the referral award) and sign it. Give it to a non-member co-worker to bring in when opening a new account.
